Legal Department

The FTWA Legal Department safeguards the rights and interests of farmers, traders, women, and youths across Rivers State. We ensure regulatory compliance, provide legal counsel to leadership, and protect members through advocacy, contract review, and dispute resolution.

Oversees all legal affairs of FTWA, including corporate governance, member representation, and liaison with government agencies. Previously served as Legal Adviser to cooperative societies and agricultural trade unions in the South-South Region.

Our Mandate

Regulatory Compliance

Ensuring FTWA operates in full compliance with CAC regulations, NGO governance standards, and applicable Nigerian federal and state laws.

Member Advocacy

Representing farmers and traders in land disputes, market access issues, and grievances with local authorities or trading partners.

Contract & Partnership Review

Reviewing memoranda of understanding, funding agreements, and partnership contracts to protect the association and its members.

Policy & Governance Advisory

Advising the Board of Trustees and Executive Council on legal risks, constitutional amendments, and internal policy development.
